Kalmatron

The main function of protective solution KALMATRON – is restoration (provision) of water impermeability of the buildings and constructions.One of the most important advantages of the KALMATRON solution is its impermeability to different kinds of aggressive influences nature and mechanical character. KALMATRON layer of 1.5 - 2 mm thickness protects concrete from lixiviation with soft waters for 50 years.

PRINCIPLE OF FUNCTIONING OF KALMATRON PROTECTIVE COATING ADMIXTURE

KALMATRON is a capillary effect cementing material, ensuring hydro-insulation of concrete, cement and sand slurry, bricks and other capillary and porous materials. The hydro-insulation effect is reached inside the protected material’s structure, between its elements and the ingredients of KALMATRON admixture by sustained chemical reactions, occurring in a strict order. The reactions result in emergence of soluble and non-soluble compounds, which fill the capillaries, pores and small cracks and push the water out. The compounds’ dense chemical composition ensures the characteristics of admixture’s perfect hydro-insulation. KALMATRON’s formula gives a “self-healing” effect by blocking the pores and cracks in KALMATRON protective admixture layer by crystalline hydrates.

Crystalline concrete waterproofing KALMATRON solution has proved to be effective material for:
Provision of hydro isolation of the surfaces of walls and floors of houses, basements, roofing, sewerage systems, water supply systems, etc for new houses (in the process of building) as well as for restoration of water impermeability of older constructions. Protective layer can be applied outside as well as inside of construction (to the negative or positive waterproofing sides).
Creation of protective layer on surfaces of buildings and structures influenced by the pressure of hydro environment and aggressive mediums.

The KALMATRON coating provides concrete impermeability to engine oil and diesel oil, and is recommended for protection even from such absorption inactive media as kerosene. The speed of acid corrosion of concrete with protective layer slows down at list by 1,5 times.
The KALMATRON coating greatly reduces carbonization and penetration of chloride salts into the concrete. Moreover, KALMATRON protects from rebar corrosion and improves the passivity effect of concrete with steel reinforcement.
The ability of KALMATRON to protect concrete from gaseous corrosion is actively used for sewage collectors.
Research has demonstrated that KALMATRON also has biocide properties, which is important for construction and repair of agricultural and food industry facilities.

KALMATRON materials’ features

  • The compound elements’ saturation deep inside the concrete by one solid front and filling the capillaries and micro-cracks by insoluble crystals;
  • Increased longevity of the structure’s hydro-insulation for the entire period of the structure’s operation;
  • Increasing the concrete and reinforced concrete structures’ hydro-insulation class by no less than 4 levels;
  • Resistance to critical temperatures and extreme temperature changes, frost-resistance no less than F300;
  • KALMATRON compounds do not require the concrete to be dry (i. e. moistness no more than 5%), on the contrary, the concrete may be moisture saturated, which is usual in construction site conditions;
  • Resistance to external mechanical impacts (cuts, punctures, etc.);
  • Ability to copy any, even the most complex, structure outlines in case there are no junctions and seams;
  • Hydro-insulation, which may be applied both from outside and from inside the structure, independently of the water pressure direction;
  • Possibility to solve the “cold joint” problem in monolithic concrete structures;
  • Good repair possibilities in case of deforming structure movements, quick localization and removal of defective areas;
  • Use as repair compounds, compressive strength no less than 25 Mpa;
  • High usability;
  • The processed concrete has a self-healing feature, i. e. cracks in the structure (shrinkages, deformations, etc.) with apertures up to 0.2 mm are able to retreat on the condition the area is moist;
  • Keeping the vapour permeability effect, i. e. the ceolite effect: the water molecules, while remaining in the contact zone, do not saturate deep inside the concrete, as air molecules do, and such natural filtering contributes to the overall longevity of the structure;
  • Resistance to different aggressive chemical impacts; stable corrosion resistance within the limits of 3.5<ðÍ<11;
  • Oil resistance – using KALMATRON compounds makes the concrete resistant to engine oils and fuels;
  • Use of KALMATRON family materials does not result in corrosion of fitting and does not reduce the passivating effect of concrete on steel fittings;
  • KALMATRON material coating is gas corrosion resistant, which is relevant when there is a need to protect sewage collectors. The coating has biocide features, which allows for its use in drinking water tanks;
  • KALMATRON family materials are not toxic, flammable or explosive;
  • KALMATRON materials coating allows for significant (more than five times) reduction of spread of radionuclides, thus the material can be recommended for protecting concrete engineering structures, exposed to radioactive substances.
